I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of their summer! In honor of these warmer months, we wanted to touch base on a couple of summer-specific topics. First, June and July are Firework Safety Months. Over 67% of firework-related injuries take place from June 16th to July 16th. And 15% of those firework injuries were eye injuries. Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear! Read more on how to protect you and your family from fireworks. https://www.nsc.org/home-safety/tools-resources/seasonal-safety/summer/fireworks.

Fireworks are not the only thing to be more aware of this summer. All that extra sunlight means extra exposure to UV. Those rays don’t just affect your skin! Your eyes are also very sensitive to damage from the sun. Please take a look at this article to study up on how to best protect your eyes while outside in the sun and participating in outdoor activities, particularly swimming and sports. https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/5-ways-to-get-your-eyes-summer-ready

I certainly hope everyone is staying safe in general as things start to get back to normal. We will keep you posted as VOSH clinics start up again moving forward. Stay healthy and have a wonderful summer!!

Thank you for the info. It will be really hard to keep me out of the sun, however.
